Taylor Swift sparked a bit of envy in NFL WAG Kelly Stafford.

In the October 31 episode of “The Morning After” podcast, Kelly, who is married to Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, 35, acknowledged that jealousy influenced her critical remark about the NFL’s coverage of the pop star and her relationship with Travis Kelce.

Before the start of the 2024 football season, Kelly expressed her reluctance to endure “another four months of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce coverage.”

Reflecting on her feelings during the podcast, she remarked, “I feel like there is just this… cloud hanging over with this Taylor Swift thing. I have never said I didn’t like Taylor Swift — ever.”

The mother of four, who shares four daughters with Matthew, admitted she was “kind of tired” of the NFL focusing on Swift, although she emphasized that it wasn’t the singer’s fault.

“Can she do anything about that? No, she can’t,” Kelly stated, adding that it represented a “good business decision for the NFL,” but she felt it was overshadowing the actual games.

“I think that’s what bothered me,” she continued. “I was a little jealous that they were getting all this attention, and all of a sudden, the football game felt like a sideshow. So yeah, maybe I let jealousy get the best of me.”

Kelly then elaborated on her feelings of frustration regarding the situation.

“I was wondering, ‘Why was I feeling that way?’ And it turned out that I had some jealousy issues regarding how she suddenly became the focus of NFL football… or their relationship,” she shared.

She went on to explain, “I see my husband working incredibly hard, along with all the other players in the league, and suddenly it feels like they are the sideshow. That’s where that feeling originated.”

Despite her initial negative reaction to Swift’s presence in the NFL, Kelly affirmed that she has always enjoyed the artist’s music.

“I was a fan of hers back when she was making country music; we’re the same age, so I grew up listening to her songs,” she mentioned, noting that her music has had a “positive” impact on her life.

Moreover, Kelly and Matthew took their daughters Sawyer and Chandler, 7, Hunter, 6, and Tyler, 4, to Swift’s concert in New Orleans last month.

She conveyed her gratitude that the “Cruel Summer” singer has contributed to increasing female viewership in sports, allowing her children to “enjoy football more knowing she is involved.”

“I truly believe my daughters feel prouder of their dad because he plays a sport that Taylor Swift loves,” Kelly noted. “So ultimately, I’m thankful for all of it.”

Kelly also shared her excitement: “That concert was absolutely amazing,” adding it was an “experience of a lifetime.”
