Donald Trump recently criticized Liz Cheney and her father, Dick Cheney, in an interview with Tucker Carlson, calling Liz « very dumb » and a « radical war hawk. » His comments drew immediate backlash, with Liz Cheney stating such rhetoric threatens democracy. Ian Sams from Kamala Harris’s campaign condemned Trump’s remarks as violent, while Gabby Giffords urged Republicans to denounce him. Despite the criticism, Trump’s campaign spokesperson defended his comments, framing them as an attack against establishment politicians.
Donald Trump has once again made outrageous comments.
In an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson in Arizona on Thursday, Trump criticized Liz Cheney and her father, Dick Cheney, for endorsing his opponent, Kamala Harris.
The former reality star exclaimed: ‘I can understand why he supports his daughter, but she is a very foolish person, very foolish.’
‘She’s a radical war hawk. Imagine her standing there with a rifle while nine barrels are aimed at her. Let’s see how she would react when the guns are pointed right at her,’ he added.
Trump went on to say, ‘These war hawks are all too eager when they’re in Washington, making decisions in their comfortable offices, saying, « Let’s send 10,000 troops straight into the heart of danger.”’
His alarming remarks prompted a swift backlash, with Cheney responding on X: ‘This is how dictators undermine free nations. They intimidate those who oppose them with threats of violence.’
‘We cannot put our trust in a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable individual who seeks to become a tyrant,’ Cheney stated, incorporating the hashtag ‘women will not be silenced’.
Ian Sams, a senior adviser for Harris’ campaign, also condemned Trump for his “dangerous and violent rhetoric.”
On MSNBC, he remarked, “Donald Trump is suggesting that a prominent Republican should face a firing squad. Meanwhile, Vice President Harris is focused on assembling her Cabinet.”
Former Representative Gabby Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt in 2011, also called for Republicans to denounce Trump’s statements.

She emphasized: ‘To declare that someone should be executed merely for supporting a different candidate is un-American.’
‘Any Republican who truly respects the Constitution and the rule of law must publicly condemn Donald Trump’s dangerous remarks without delay.’
However, not everyone opposed the 78-year-old’s comments directed at Cheney. Trump’s campaign national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, defended him.
Leavitt stated: ‘President Trump is absolutely correct that warmongers like Liz Cheney are quick to initiate wars while sending others to fight instead of taking up arms themselves.’
‘This is a continuation of the media’s latest fake outrage just days before the election, in a blatant attempt to interfere on behalf of Kamala Harris.’
Trump and Cheney have a history of clashing; in March, Cheney cautioned Republican donors to “beware” after the controversial figure seized control of the RNC.
At that time, she noted: ‘Is it purely coincidental that Donald Trump gained control of the RNC, dismissed most of its Republican staff, and appointed his daughter-in-law as co-chair while simultaneously struggling to secure funds and unable to post bond?’
‘Donors should be cautious,’ Cheney advised.
Cheney hinted at Trump facing challenges in obtaining an appeal bond following a $454 million civil fraud judgment against him in New York.
In the meantime, Trump is being accused of secretly devising strategies to assert victory in the U.S. election, should he lose, according to sources.
Political analyst Simon Marks claims that Trump’s tactics may involve alleging ‘vote-rigging in states that are not considered electoral battlegrounds.’
