In a shocking moment captured on film, a group of predators in Magaluf can be seen saying « let’s go for it » after discovering a British woman who appeared intoxicated and alone during the night.
Terrified, journalist Ellie Flynn had to flee when multiple men expressed their intentions to take advantage of her while she rested on a beach lounger.
This unsettling incident is featured in the documentary, Magaluf Undercover: Predators and Parties, which seeks to reveal the hidden dangers of this well-known tourist destination. The film will be available for streaming on Channel 4 and YouTube starting Friday, November 1.
The chilling trailer includes footage of two local men approaching Ellie, who was posing as a « drunk » individual. One of the men leans over her and attempts to engage, asking, « Are you good? Do you want to talk for a little bit? »
Ellie responds firmly, stating, « I’m good, » but the predator persists, saying, « You are my last chance. Do you want to kiss a little bit? » Ellie again declines.
Secretly placed cameras operated by the production crew captured the man eventually walking away, but not before attempting to recruit another individual for their predatory plans.
“She’s completely wasted,” he tells his companion in Spanish before exclaiming, “Let’s go for it!” A third man then joins Ellie on the sun lounger, asserting, “If you want, I can keep you company.”
Following this alarming encounter, Ellie shared her feelings of being startled and genuinely frightened by the arrival of the third man. She noted, “I had seen the first two together, but the unexpected presence of another made me signal for security to assist me.”
Describing her experience, she stated, « I left the beach feeling disturbed and scared, as if I had been targeted by a group aiming to exploit vulnerable women in Magaluf. » She emphasized that this was not an isolated incident, but part of a troubling pattern that persisted throughout her three nights in the area.
On her first night, she documented a group of men observing her for ten minutes while she feigned drunkenness outside a fast-food establishment. As she stumbled away, one man signaled to his friend and followed her, inquiring about her well-being while boasting about his car.
Another colleague, 23-year-old Emily Birtley, had been with Ellie just before this incident. Ellie recounted how a man continuously questioned her about being alone, where her friends were, and offered to help—all while invading her personal space and complimenting her appearance.
This Channel 4 documentary follows reports of three alleged gang rapes in Magaluf and nearby areas from the previous year. Calvia, the district where Magaluf is located, unfortunately holds the record for the highest rate of reported sexual assaults per capita in Spain.
Matilda, 18, who visited the area this summer with her friend Emmie, described their experience as one that left them feeling “helpless and vulnerable.” She stated, “Men would reach under skirts or dresses and inappropriately touch others.”
Another young woman revealed her ordeal of ending up alone on the beach after her drink was spiked last July, recounting, “I just started to feel worse and worse. I could barely speak or walk.”
Both Ellie and Emily reported enduring numerous incidents of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior throughout their undercover investigation, with the majority of the offenders being holidaymakers from the UK, Italy, and France.
In response to rising safety concerns, the local government has introduced regulations aimed at cleaning up Magaluf, implementing laws around excessive drinking in 2020. These measures include limits on alcohol sales and restrictions on selling alcohol overnight. Additionally, fines have been established for public nudity, and police presence in the area has increased.
However, these initiatives have not effectively decreased the rate of sexual assaults; in fact, reports have risen, reaching record levels.
