Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards is at the center of escalating family drama involving her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, which came to a head in court this week.
Recent court documents reveal that Mauricio’s sister, Sharon Umansky Benton, has received a permanent restraining order against the girlfriend of their 81-year-old father, Eduardo Umansky, who is Simin Tabibni.
During the recent court session, testimonies were heard from both Sharon, aged 52, and Simin, 68. Legal representatives presented video footage and photographs to support their arguments.
After considering both sides and the evidence provided, the judge issued a five-year restraining order in favor of Sharon, valid until 2029. Simin is prohibited from harassing, intimidating, assaulting, or stalking Sharon and must maintain a distance of 100 yards from her.
As previously reported, tensions between Mauricio, 54, Sharon, and Simin have been ongoing for several months.
In August, Mauricio and Sharon petitioned to place Eduardo under a conservatorship, alleging that his girlfriend was exploiting him. Their petition stated that « [Eduardo] is unable to resist undue influence and fraud and has been taken advantage of by his girlfriend. » They claim that over the last eighteen months, Simin has inappropriately taken over $260,000 from Eduardo through manipulation.
“Throughout this period, [Eduardo] has issued more than $260,000 in checks to his girlfriend solely at her request. Additionally, there are nearly $100,000 in unexplained expenses,” the filing stated.
Mauricio emphasized that Eduardo could not put an end to this “abusive behavior” by himself.
This week, the court confirmed the necessity of a conservatorship for Eduardo’s estate, noting that sufficient evidence had been presented. Both Sharon and Simin sought restraining orders against one another, with Sharon alleging that Simin physically assaulted her in a recent encounter.
Sharon described, “[Simin] keeps him isolated, and I’ve been trying to visit more frequently, which has led to these issues. She takes away his phone and behaves abusively towards him. He is elderly and afraid to be alone, and she claims to have some form of leverage against him, making him stay with her.”
She added, “I’m unsure of the specifics, but she is trying to prevent me from seeing my father while persuading him to hand over all his money.”
On September 17, Sharon filed a police report, stating, “The evidence will indicate that [Simin] has repeatedly engaged in credible threats of violence and exhibited behavior that is both physically and mentally troubling.”
In response, Simin accused Sharon of being aggressive, claiming that Sharon “grabbed” her and “shoved” her to the ground during a recent confrontation.
Simin denied allegations of isolating Eduardo from his family and friends or exploiting him in any way.
She asserted that Sharon never had a close bond with their father and was only now attempting to reconnect for “financial reasons.” Simin also mentioned that Eduardo had expressed an intention to marry Simin three years prior, which she claims provoked Sharon’s distress.
Simin’s documentation further alleged that Sharon signalled her intent for their mother, who divorced Eduardo long ago, to secure a significant portion of his assets, leaving Simin with nothing.
She continued, “Recently, I was informed that my father’s ex-wife has, astonishingly, attempted to rekindle a romantic relationship with him, almost 30 years after their divorce. Additionally, despite my pleas to stop interfering in my relationship with my father, Sharon and her mother have continuously slandered me to others, which has harmed my name and career.”
Simin’s request for a restraining order was ultimately denied.
In addition to his ongoing family disputes, the 55-year-old Mauricio is facing a federal lawsuit concerning PPP loans associated with his real estate business. He has denied any wrongdoing and is pursuing the dismissal of the case, but a judge has yet to issue a ruling.
